I need fresh air

Yes, to be honest, I need fresh air. Being quite a lot with gigs the last 3 months, I started writng new songs. I locked myself i the studio for days, but, It was not the good way to proceed. After a few weeks and on reflection, i stopped. then driving spade, rake, wheelbarrow, sickle and inspiration came back again, breezing my middle Brittany wet wind.

I can tell you it was the first but the least time to play that way ...

Facing a screen, jumping from my DAW to my mic, editing, I love that, but a digital atmosphere must be break regularly. Good tip to myself.

October news

October is dry, October is passing, October, an 80's Rennes cold wave group of Frank Darcel still listening. In October I dove also into the music of this Rennes group that I really like: Santa Cruz. And our songs are coming along, we are attempting to dress them up in the best way letting coarseness of technology that can at times spoil the foundation of the ideas. But we are not stopping at attempting simple things nor more audacious. I have taken out some old material with which we are trying some things: my first amp a Champ fender 78 that is so hot. A mandolin, a harmonica...Old-school. Will I be nostalgia?
I'm going to continue to listen to Franck Turner, Sam Karpienia, The Big Pink, or still Langhorne Slim, all the new stuff from October that I really like.

Breton style of music

A friend of mine, asks me about "the chant/rap that I hear you do. what is the Breton style of music.."
During a few days, this, disturbs me. And I could now, maybe say : I am not influence with rap, no. Yes, my chant is sometimes speed. It comes, maybe, from the traditional breton beat call "kan ha diskan"(call and response) flowing all over here. I am not in the known of "kan ha diskan"; I sing 5 or 6 traditional songs, at least. With evidence now, my songwriting is somewhere roots in K&D, but I could say, mostly roots in north cost tribal pagan rythms, It could be the reason, sometimes words flow hard and strong, hammering the beats.

Recording and ... news from here,

This Winter months has found us buffering ourselves against the chill winds and hugely inclement weather in center Brittany by holing up once more in home studio and solo gigs, under the guidance of the erstwhiles Manu Bergot and Gil Kersulec and the lovely slice of humanity that is Dom Bott.

We’re about five/six more live solo gigs away from having ten finished songs, with a view to an eleven/twelve song album, and mixing (by Pascal Lamour at BNC) is pencilled in for the month beginning july, so expect some new songs shortly after that .

At the same time, I've playing 10 school gigs for breton speakers children (great atmosphere and audience), swinging from schools to gigs, switching on english/breton/french from Ireland, to England, back home ... and still dubbing movies into breton, what a fun, amazing !
